Israeli Public Prosecution on Monday decided to keep hunger striking Palestinian prisoner, journalist Mohammad al-Qiq, under administrative detention, without a charge or trial, despite his critical health condition.
Jawad Boulus, head of the legal unit at the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS), said that Israeli public prosecution, upon the recommendation of the Supreme Court, decided to keep al-Qiq under administrative detention, despite medical reports that confirm his serious health condition.
According to PPS, the Israeli public prosecution claimed that al-Qiq was still conscious, and that there was no need to end his administrative detention.
Earlier Monday, the Israeli military prosecution and internal security agency, Shabak, held a meeting to discuss the suspension of the administrative detention of journalist al-Qiq, following a severe deterioration in his health as he entered 70th day of hunger strike on Tuesday.
